For the Love of Freedom is a documentary dedicated to bringing World War II to life for the younger generation.
For the last two years Director Jeffrey Worthington has collected the stories of nearly thirty WWII veterans in an effort to help preserve their stories for future generations. The interviews and countless hours of footage are now being used in a documentary aimed at capturing the interest of today’s teenagers. Through extensive research, the documentary has taken clips from the most intense WWII battlefields.
Approximately 1000 of our nation’s WWII veterans pass away daily. When Mr. Worthington surveyed a group of high school students concerning their amount of interest in WWII, the typical responses were, “It’s just text on the page.” or “It’s not personal.” In essence, it wasn’t relevant to them. This documentary aspires to personalize the war, so that students may be able to fully appreciate the sacrifices that brave young men just like them made.
These men fought for many things, especially for their love of freedom. Freedom is not free, which is why we must never forget those who were willing to sacrifice their lives for it.
